1.5.11 mitigates the problem and if you have debug on it displays a warning that you've done the wrong thing.

Thank you for the info!

Let me ask you something, the new Joomla version 1.5.11 just came out two days ago. Does this version take care of that situation you are commenting above?
Thanks

It really only sets an overwrite flag in the installer so if files are already laying around then they are overwritten. It doesn't permit deleting files, one of the things I am looking at is an upgrade in 1.6 might remove old files but only if they have been explicitly stated (e.g. files installed using a 'folder' tag would be ignored as there is no way we can easily determine which files were there without recording them somewhere, perhaps that will be 1.7).

Cheers!

I just recently discovered the method="upgrade"-feature. Lots of developers are not using this, and neither the possibility to install multiple extensions with one install.

Could you tell a bit more about how the method="upgrade"-feature works? Does it only allow for file overwrites, or does it delete obsolete files as well?

Best regards,
Torkil
